A2 Art Studio - SUMMER Schedule 2008 Summer is here! It is time to enjoy this great time of year. Invest in yourself! Creativity lasts a lifetime. With our new lower prices for the summer, we’re hoping you will join us for a class, camp, or maybe just to buy some jewelry! We are NOW SELLING artwork made by the owner, students, and guest instructors! More and more items will be put online for everyone to enjoy. The talent is enormous! All classes have materials fees built into them already unless stated! You don’t have to bring anything with you! Save your spot with a $30 deposit for each class you’ll be attending! If you sign up for a class at least one week early, you will get a 5% discount automatically! Check out www.a2artstudio.com for more information! SummersmART! Semi-private art lessons given every week! Students will each work on their own projects at their own pace. Basic materials are included. Teen students wishing to go further with more advanced materials will pay a little extra for those materials or bring their own. Sign up for the length of time you’d like! They begin the week of June 16th Teens (13-17) Wednesdays 4:00-5:30 Weekly Monthly Semester (3 months) $20 $ 17.50 per session ($70 total) $15.00 per session ($180 total) OPEN STUDIO TIME!! Sundays 11am- 4pm Anyone can come in and work on whatever they would like! No appointment necessary!!! Ms. A will be around as you work independently. Make sure you bring your own supplies and project to work on! Cost – ONLY $5 per hour (full hour increments only) Semi –private art lessons for adults Sundays 11am-12:30pm If you want to develop your skills on a more personal guided level in an economical way, then this option is for YOU!!! Students will be working on their own independent projects. Bring your own supplies and be ready to work! Students must sign up ahead of time. Discounts will be available for students who want to take the lessons consistently. Cost - $20 or less per session (please see the summersmART pricing – same deal here) Camp CREATEive! A half-full day camp-like class for students age 5-17. Come to Camp CREATEive to learn, laugh, and make great memories! These classes are designed to be interesting and fun! Dates Time Class Description Ages Cost June 23- 27 9:00 am – 12:00 pm Portfolio Preparation: Dynamic Drawing Create drawings that can go in your art portfolio. This class is for ANYONE who wants to better their drawing skills. We will go over advanced composition, drawing from observation, perspective, space, form, and more. We will draw outside at least one of the days. Use a variety of drawing materials from pencil to charcoal, too! Teens (13-18) $140 June 23- 27 12:30 pm – 3:30 pm Portfolio Preparation: Powerful Painting Create paintings using acrylics & watercolor paints. This class is for ANYONE who wants to improve their painting skills. We will go over color theory, creating space in a painting, painting techniques, special effects, landscape painting, and more! We will paint outside at least one of the days. Teens (13-18) $165 (Canvases & Watercolor Paper are included in the price) July 28- Aug. 1 9:00 am – 12:00 pm Young Artist – 2D Drawing, Painting, & Design Young students will develop their drawing, painting, and design skills using lots of different art materials including pencil, charcoal, watercolor, and ink! Kids (5-12) $140 July 28- Aug. 1 12:30 pm – 3:30 pm Young Artist – 3D Clay, Sculpture, & Wire In this fabulous class, students will create 3 dimensional projects using different non-fired clays, wire, plaster, and paper! Students will learn about form, space, texture, and how to create something that looks good from all angles! Kids (5-12) $165 NEW!! August 11-15 9:00 am – 12:00 pm Art by Nature Create artwork with nature as the focus!!! Make art with nature and about nature. We will create drawings, landscapes, paintings, a nature craft, and more! Kids & Teens (5-17) $150 August 11-15 12:30 pm – 3:30 pm Fashion Design & Beauty Boot Camp Learn how to improve your fashion sense and style. You’ll learn fashion from all angles – jewelry, makeup, fabric design, drawing, designing, basic sewing, accessories, & more! We’ ll have a fashion show the last day at the end of class! Kids & Teens (5-17) $150 Sunday WORKSHOP! ***Creative Cakes, Dazzling Decorating: SUGARY SCULPTURE Sunday 11am - 2pm, June 8th (1 session) Learn how to create hard icing flowers and other decorative pieces for cakes. These mini edible sculptures harden to become a wonderful addition to any confection! This class is taught by a wonderful cake artist who has 30+ years of experience! Anyone who loves polymer clay will love the ideas this class can generate! Ages: 12 and up Course fee: $55 (save $15 when you take all three Creative Cake classes) INSTRUCTOR: Susan Asp (Guest Instructor) Saturday WORKSHOPS ***Professional Wire Work May 31st 10:30am – 2:30pm Designed with the novice in mind, this 4 hour course delivers information and techniques at a fast pace, and focuses on correct method and durable design. Discover the differences between the professional methods vs. the more common 'arts and craft' techniques of working with wire. Learn about the best uses for metal headpins and eye pins to create long lasting designs for necklaces, earrings, rosaries, key chains and more! Understand the variety of metals jewelry designers work with and how these affect the ease of use, durability and comfort of the pieces you create. During this workshop you will create a complement of necklace, bracelet and earring designs using the techniques discussed. Ages: adults (teens with owner approval) Course fee: $100 INSTRUCTOR: Tamara Farion (Guest Instructor) ***The Bead Experience May 31st 3pm – 5pm The fast-track to creating your own jewelry... This fun 2 hour experience course introduces you to design and to a basic yet reliable technique you can use to make necklaces and bracelets! Start out with an overview of modern Jewelry-Making... learn about how techniques have changed over the years and how technology and art have come together to create materials that are durable, fun and easy to use. The Bead Experience hands-on session was created to give you a taste of how to make your own professional jewelry. Ages: adults (teens with studio owner approval) Course fee: $55 (save $5 for taking this class and the wire working class). INSTRUCTOR: Tamara Farion (Guest Instructor) ***Creative Cakes, Dazzling Decorating: Beginner Saturday 10:30am–1:30pm, June 7th (1 session) Learn how to make beautiful flowers, borders, and more using cake decorating techniques. This class is taught by a wonderful award-winning cake artist who has 30+ years of experience! Everyone will have their own cake to make and get a beginner’s kit!!! Ages: 12 and up Course fee: $65 INSTRUCTOR: Susan Asp (Guest Instructor) ***Creative Cakes, Dazzling Decorating: Intermediate Saturday 2pm - 5pm, June 7th (1 session) Learn how to make more advanced effects using cake decorating tips and techniques. Ages: 12 and up Course fee: $65 (save $10 when you take both Saturday Creative Cake classes) INSTRUCTOR: Susan Asp (Guest Instructor) Fabulous Glass Fusing June 21, 1pm- 4pm Learn basic glass fusing techniques! Cut and arrange glass to make a beautiful colored fused glass piece. Pieces will be fired and ready to be picked up the following week. Ages: older teens & adults - Course fee: $50 Miraculous Metal Clay: Beginner - Intermediate June 28th, 11am-3pm METAL CLAY works like a clay, and, when fired, becomes pure silver! Create a pendant that will shine as bright as your creativity. Learn how to use the clay, texture it, add pieces onto it, finish it, and make it into an actual piece using finings. Ages: older teens and adults Course fee: $75 Tricks of the Trade: Polymer Clay July 26, 10 am – 1pm Beginners to advanced students will learn how to make jewelry using polymer clay and old jewelry. Students can use molds and stamps to design one-of-a-kind pieces. You will learn about the different clays to use and easy techniques! Ages: teens - adults Course fee: $60 INSTRUCTOR: Dorothy Sucher (Guest Instructor) Striking Silk Scarves August 2, 1-4pm Create your own hand painted silk scarf!!! Learn different painting techniques and effects!!! It is really easy to get great results every time!!! Ages: all Course fee: $40 (kids under 16 only $30 w/adult) Glory of Glass (sheet & sea glass) August 9, 11am-4pm Work with glass to create beautiful jewelry pieces! Learn how to wrap with wire, grind, drill, & cut sea glass & sheet glass. Anyone interested in working with glass should try this class! Ages: 10 & up - Course fee: $80 Metalsmithing (a Ms. A Favorite!) August 16, 10 am – 4pm HERE IT IS! A basic metals class for beginners! Learn to design, cut, file, pierce, saw, and sand metal to create your own metal artwork! Sterling Silver Earring hooks will be provided! Ages: older teens and adults Course fee: $50 Dynamic Drawing: PORTRAITS Mondays 5:30-7:30pm July 21-August 11 (4 sessions) Learn to draw faces! Learn different ways to begin, facial features, expressions, and symbolism. Students will create a self portrait, too! Ages: 13 and up Course fee: $95 Dynamic Drawing: NATURE Mondays 5:30-7:30pm July 21-August 11 (4 sessions) Learn to draw the beauty of nature! Use many different media to show textures, organic forms, and landscape. When weather permits, we WILL be outside to draw! Ages: 13 and up Course fee: $45 Powerful Painting: Acrylic techniques (a Ms. A Favorite!) Thursdays 5:30-7:30pm July 17-31 (3 sessions) Use Acrylic Paints to create a canvas painting! Learn basic techniques – brushes, loading, layering, mediums, and more!!! Acrylic paint is opaque and vibrant. The textures and effects you can create are wonderful! It dries quickly allowing for spontaneity! More advanced students will work more with texture, form, and special brush techniques. Ages: 12 and up Course fee: $80 Wondrous Watercolor Thursdays 5:30-7:30pm June 12-July 3 (4 sessions) Learn how to use watercolor! Learn washes, details, layering, and special effects you can create with this great paint medium! Make multiple paintings. Students who are already using watercolor can learn more advanced skills, as well. Ages: 13 and up Course fee: $100 Miraculous Metal Clay: Detailed designs and finishing techniques Wednesday & Thursday from 5:30-7:30pm August 13-14 (2 sessions) Come and create a pure silver pendant or earrings using a clay filled syringe!!! You will learn to use cork clay, liver of sulphur, finishing tools, and more in this class!!! METAL CLAY works like a clay, and, when fired, becomes pure silver! Sterling findings are included! Ages: 15 and up Course fee: $75 KidsmART CLASSES NEW!!!! For the summer we are trying something a bit different for KidsmART! We will have a weekly class on Tuesdays 6-7:30 (starting later so people can have dinner before they come if they wish). Every week we will have a new project for students to do. Parents can pay week per week, monthly, or for all summer.
